Rick Santorum has been condemned after claiming that rape victims who become pregnant should 'make the best of a bad situation'.The Republican presidential candidate - who is currently third in the polls - said that women in such a position should not get an abortion but instead welcome their 'horrible gift from God'.He added that even if his own daughter became pregnant after being raped he would still urge her to have the child.Santorum is ultra conservative and a devout Catholic who has in the past spoken of how he wants to ban abortion with a constitutional amendment. He enjoyed a surge in the Iowa caucus because of support from evangelical Republicans but his stark comments risk alienating swing voters who are undecided on the issue.

To the thinking person, Rick's words are shocking but familiar. Where does this perversion of thoughts come from?

The Holy Bible:

Laws of Rape (Deuteronomy 22:28-29)

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

What kind of lunatic would make a rape victim marry her attacker? Answer: God.

Death to the Rape Victim (Deuteronomy 22:23-24)

If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.

It is clear that God doesn't give a damn about the rape victim. He is only concerned about the violation of another mans "property".

time for a quote from hellsing

"And now O kings, be ye wise. Be admonished, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son lest He grow angry, and ye perish in the way for His wrath may quickly kindle. AMEN!!"

While I don't believe in God, I do believe God didn't really think this one through. Given the mores of the time, he was doing the best he could.

Future History

Earlier this month it emerged that Mrs Santorum had a six-year affair with an pioneering abortion doctor when she was in her 20s.

She reportedly had the fling with Dr Thomas Allen even though he was 40 years her senior and, in a bizarre twist, delivered her as a baby.

Mrs Santorum, who shares her husband's strong views on abortion, apparently had 'no problems' at all with what her former boyfriend did for a living.

Funny how the "bizarre twist" is the part where her former age-completely-inappropriate lover actually delivered her as a baby, and not the fact that she has no problem with what her former boyfriend did for a living. Hey Rick - how's it feel to have the devil's sloppy seconds? Satan was all up in that birth canal, and she was just fine with him and his occupation.

If the living product of a forcible rape was, in fact, a gift from God, then one must conclude that God is either a low-life Hood-Rat, or a mentally depraved Perve! Or, maybe Santorum has annointed himself as his God's spokesman?

Somebody should give Santorum the gift of a ball gag so the rest of us don't have to hear his vile stupidity.

Santorum is not gods spokesman, he is however a peice of puke that needs to be sent home and told that he can't play politics anymore.

If that's how he feels, he should place into an escrow account no less than $10 billion dollars to provide each woman raped $1 million dollars cash tax free.

Bottom line is he's an idiot who needs to vanish!

Agreed!

When he makes such idiotic statements like he did, he has no idea the effects his proposed legislation will have. Who pays for child support? Who will pay for the orphanages that will need to be built/established as a result of women giving up parental rights? You can't give the child to the father obviously, so who pays for all of this?

As well as another (and completely chilling, horrific idea).... how do you tell a 13 year old rape victim that she has to carry to term the pregnancy risking her own life in the process? How do you tell a victim of incest as well?

Ugh.

People who just say make the best of it are stupid. Stupid and insensitive. And he calls himself a Christian.

Look, if Santorum's daughter got pregnant by a rapist, she would be flown to a secluded location (namely another country) and would have the abortion. Then, she'd come home, keep her mouth shut, and come out at some point in time stating how she miscarried.

Let's not delude ourselves, here - there are laws for the common folk, and laws for the rich. I honestly don't think Santorum would consider a black or brown child a part of the family - not by a long shot! And god forbid, it turns out to be GAY!

Now THAT would be a gift from god!

Live and let live please

Rick, if a women decides to make the best of rape and give birth to and love a child regardless of how it was conceived, then yes, that is admirable. But if she decides that she can't handle that and doesn't want to bring a child that she is not ready for and didn't want into this world, then that is her decision, not yours. I don't like abortion, since I see it as a waste of potential, but sorry, I'm male. It's none of my goddamn business what any woman does with her body. Espouse your beliefs all you want, and I will respect you for them. But the moment you try to force them on anyone be way of the legal system, you are forever condemned in my eyes.
