Reflecting on this, there seems more grist to it now than there did then. Can anyone imagine a member of the male sex making a bigger hash of a harassment charge that Herman Cain has recently done? Or causing himself to look more like an ignorant fool than did Cain when given—with ample notice—a chance to review and criticize the president’s policy in Libya? And yet there he still, inarguably, is. Moving up the mental scale a bit, it must be a while since the contrast between a candidate and his two positions on an issue were as wildly at odds as those of Newt Gingrich and Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae. Sliding down a snake or two, Michele Bachmann has continued to amaze with every opportunity given her. Mounting a ladder only to get a view of some dismaying serpents, one scans a briefing by “Republican strategist” Alex Castellanos in which he seems to suggest that a Sarah Palin endorsement of Newt Gingrich could be offset only by an immediate declaration of Mike Huckabee for Mitt!

The entire Republican line-up is full of gaffes. They want to institute their personal brand of God on the rest of the nation and they don't even make a secret of it.

Only in America I guess...

I wonder how they came around thinking they'd be good candidates, certainly not on their knowledge of much other than money grubbing and smacking people upside the head. Perhaps they figured there were enough wealthy and religious to get their backs only they didn't realize that many of the wealthy and religious are intelligent beings and would never go for what they are offering.

They cater to the religious right. It's surprising how many people will deny evolution even with all of the evidence. I sincerely hope you're right about the wealthy, religious people being intelligent enough to see through the GOP campaign. Sadly, I think a lot of people buy their bullcrap.

Regardless of how bad the GOP nominees appear to be I never underestimate the ignorance and under-education of low information voters to continually vote against their best interests.

Still recovering from the fact that Bush was re-elected. That the 2010 mid term elections happened. That Gingrich is leading in most polls, etc. etc....

Yeah...me too. Not to mention the brainwashed voter.

There is plenty of ignorance to go around. What I am seeing in some young people however is friendly persuasion in their approach to debating issues that some usually won't budge from. I believe we are a more intelligent society as we have access to so much information. We are humans and we evolve as fast as we are able and some are a bit slower than others to catch on. I believe we can open more eyes with acceptance and these candidates are not at all about acceptance.

Sadly, there are plenty of wealthy Americans who rarely ever take the time to turn on the news at all. These are the ones who's interests lie in fiercely fighting to protect their money from any change in the tax codes. You can expect nothing but an across the board partisan ballot from these folks. Financially speaking, they've got it good right now - and the GOP promises to make it better - and that's all they care about.

I agree and for those of you who missed it they also added this to the pledge of allegience. Of the one-percenters.
