The 51-year-old called for divine intervention more than 20 times before the vulnerable boy's mother told her to 'shut up'.

It's about flocking time! Shut up stupid! Good thing the mother wasn't a religious lunatic, had the conscious and wherewithal to save the child. The religious, like usual can always take credit for difficult work later. Once again it only proves:

Two hands working can accomplish more than all hands clasped in prayer.

Two hands working can accomplish more than all hands clasped in prayer.

Or in this case waving them in the air with a severe case of the crazies

Maybe God answered her prayers by getting her fired. Probably saved the lives of other children.

The nurse 'provided wholly inadequate care' by leaving the frantic mother to resuscitate her lifeless son

What? Waving your arms around while shouting for God when you're trained as a nurse is inadequate care? What is this world coming too?

Good seed, Dave. Glad the child lived no thanks to this loon.

Thank you for commenting Grish. I have not seen to many of your articles of late. I always look forward to them. Also that UFO N.O. football game was bugs reflecting the camera light. Still waiting for the real thing. And waiting.

Thanks, Dave. I've written a few but they weren't about religion. There's one up that I just wrote now though. :)

A dryly objective view of prayer's effectiveness puts it in the category of pious, two-handed masturbation: it makes you feel good but externalizes nothing of value to anyone else. And how could it? There's no one on the other end of those phone calls, after all.

All I can say is that if I am coding and the available medical staff resorts to fairy invocation, he or she better hope I am truly incapacitated or they will discover the full implications of "manual tracheal clamp"...

Still trying to figure out how praying is in the same realm of fun as masturbation. Yeah I don't see it. Maybe if you pray while you masturbate?

The problem with believing is when it becomes more powerful than common sense and good judgment.

I agree with you Grisham. Maybe God did answer the prayers, not hers but those in the future that she might have allowed to die.

So the baby 'suffered from a chronic lung disease, turned blue and stopped breathing in his cot at home.'

His nurse called on "Jesus" to help the child.

The child lived.

      The child lived.

No thanks to Jesus or that nurse. But definate thanks to the mother and emergency services. I'll bet anything if was left to "divine intervention" alone, the child would be dead.

Those are the facts in this story.

Yes, and jesus had nothing to do with it.

If the nurse was allowed to continue without the aid of 911 we would have another dead child just like what happened in Oregon. Faith Healing fails hard.

Well, one could make the argument it was god and/or jesus' fault that the baby had a chronic lung disease, stopped breathing, and turned blue in the first place.

You have to realize, no one would have to thank jesus or god for saving them after a crisis if said imaginary friends didn't cause the crisis in the first place.

I guess god or jesus really, really wanted that baby dead. The stupid medical staff kind of ruined that. oops

I'm sorry to squash you Rank, but it kind of happens when one uses logic and reasoning.

        LTKiwi,

How could anyone make that argument? When Jesus was on earth, He didn't make one person sick. He healed multitudes of people. Even raised people from the dead. Like with this dead child.

That's nice. Prove it! Besides, if jesus did heal that child, then he wouldn't have chronic lung disease anymore, nor need any resuscitation or emergency medical efforts. Sounds like jesus did squat!

It's amazing how heartless these damn Fundies can be.

The one commenting on this thread is actually defending a trained nurse for doing diddly to save a baby except praying to some crappy fairy tale invented 2,000 yrs ago.

I wonder if he/she would act the same way if it were his/her baby dying and someone who was trained in the medical field to save lives stood by doing nothing.

Who cares if babies die right R on R?

Who cares if babies die right R on R?

Andrew, how many infants die even when medical personnel are on hand, or when their parents are there, to give them infant CPR?

In this case, the baby was dead and the nurse called on Jesus to help. He did! The baby was resuscitated and lived. And since you have already accused me of the defending the nurse, which I haven't up to now, I will. I'm sure the nurse in this case, is more than happy to trade her old job for a baby being brought back to life.

Wow, delusion central up in here!! The mother and trained medical personnel at the hospital were the ones that saved this baby's life.

The frakking nurse would have been just as happy if the baby had passed because she would have just shrugged and said, "oh well, the baby's with Jesus" and screw the poor parents that lost the baby.

But none of that happened, did it? It's pure conjecture on Andrew's part.

It didnt' but there are consequences for a negligent nurse who didn't do the job that she was trained for. She was NOT trained to bat her arms around and let the baby die while she cried out the name of a fairy tale character.

If the baby had died, I would have hoped she'd go to prison for negligent homicide and be locked up for a good long time.

If that infant had died, Christians will then have the nerve to tell us, because the infant had not been baptized by Christian Holy Men, that poor child will rot in hell. No one on earth other then psycho religious lunatics are stupid enough to believes that, and preach this non sense in churches everywhere.

This is what happens when one stereotypes. I'm a Christian and haven't said any thing of the kind.

Apparently Andrew and King Dave, neither of you are that familiar with Christianity, that faith which you both hate so much. There are no babies, no children in hell. Only adults.

That is NOT however carte blanche to let the children die so they will go to Jesus much like that nurse did.

That is the difference between a decent human being and a Fundie Christian like the nurse. A decent human being doesn't twist the word of God.

That one is a little bit creepy Rank given all the problems in the Vatican over the decades. Let me know if you would like me to delete your comment. I'll give you a mulligan.

Jesus also is reported to have said, in perhaps, one of his worse moods

Jesus is criticized by the Pharisees for not washing his hands before eating. He defends himself by attacking them for not killing disobedient children according to the commandment: "He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death." (Matthew 15:4-7)

No time out, no talking about it, maybe a light spanking? No Jesus demands we slaughter them. Jesus wants parents to put their own children to the sword and kiss his all powerful butt.

                Yes. Jesus Christ ~

He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Matthew 10:37

"I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword" (Gospel of Matthew 10:34)

God already tried to exterminate man and failed. He was probably trying to kill the baby with the help of the nurse and failed.
