From Right Wing Watch:
This whole thing is about Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender History Month. So my question again, if this is about homosexual history month, are they going to feature all the homosexuals that had an enormous impact on history?
Are they going to feature John Wayne Gacy? He’s the homosexual pedophile, remember, that killed thirty-three young boys and young teenagers and buried them under the crawlspace in his house. He was a homosexual. Is he going to be a part of their display?
Adolf Hitler had a record as a homosexual prostitute in the streets of Vienna in the 1910s. He was denied promotions in the German military in World War I because of his homosexual behavior. He formed the Nazi Party in a homosexual bar, a gay bar, in Munich. All of his enforcers, almost every one of the Brownshirts; all the officers and almost all the Brownshirts were homosexuals. Is that going to be a part of Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender Month? We will wait to see.

Perhaps religion is good for something after all. Just do the opposite of what this Jesus salesman advises and we will be fine.

I guess Bryan Fischer thinks his flock will just believe whatever nonsense he has to say. He can have his opinion, but he is not really allowed to have his own set of facts. Over time as people who tune into his evangelist radio show will realize his is just full of crap, and there is not to back up the things he says.

Let's listen to what Jesus has to say, vice fallen and sin-filled men:

John 14

15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.

And what are the most important commandments?

Mark 12

28 One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

29 Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ 31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

And who is your neighbor?

Luke 10

30 Jesus replied with a story: “A Jewish man was traveling on a trip from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road.

31 “By chance a priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by. 32 A Temple assistant walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side.

33 “Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him. 34 Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. 35 The next day he handed the innkeeper two silver coins, telling him, ‘Take care of this man. If his bill runs higher than this, I’ll pay you the next time I’m here.’

36 “Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?” Jesus asked.

37 The man replied, “The one who showed him mercy.”

Then Jesus said, “Yes, now go and do the same.”

What did Jesus say about those who claimed to follow him but instead served themselves?

Matthew 7

15 “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. 16 You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. 19 So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. 20 Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.

21 “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. 22 On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ 23 But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

The answers are there, as they always have been, but again, just as Jesus said:

John 3

18 “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. 19 And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. 20 All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. 21 But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.

UNA:

You leave out so much. For example, from the "much better than Matthew, Mark, Luke or the inscrutable John", we have the prolific Herb:

Herbert 47 (easily covering the point spread against the 4 above)

"Yea, verily I say unto thee, no man who forsaketh the plates of giving in My Houses shall come into My Kingdom, nor his wife, nor his children, nor his children's children. For I shall smash them all to bits in My mercy, and grind their bones to dust. And whomsoever shall give them shelter, to them I say: Thou hast peeved me to the ends of the earth. Leave me henceforth and stay thee away, for thou deserveth My Backside only, and to you shall be given only the malodorous gases of My great Colon. For those who give Me blind worship deserveth all the glories of My Good Side, and those who questionneth Me are no better than @!$%#e."

Yeah, that mythical Jesus -- quite the character...

Yeah, if we learn that shouldn't we also learn about how the Catholic church supported that gay man Hitler? They say Christians don't like gays, history says otherwise.

It never fails to amaze me, that these looney "preachers" are allowed to walk amongst us, spewing lies and hate, and that there are really Americans that buy this crap, hook, line, and sinker. Sad commentary on the followers, just as much as the loons. And scary.

Yeah, right!

Sadly, I think that they are the way that they are for much the same reason why Lovecraft's universe so embedded itself into our collective psyches to the point that I have actually had people honestly tell me with firm conviction that Cthulhu exists.....

There are just flat-out some things that certain minds just cannot process- just cannot cope with some things and, when actually encountering those incomprehensible things: those minds just break. And, on some instinctual level everyone knows this- which was what Lovecraft inadvertently "dialed" into all of those years ago.

And, unfortunately, we are at not just one but several crossroads at the moment and, some folks just can't stand even one. Knowing that, how else can they respond?

John Wayne Gacy was a closeted homosexual as was Jeffery Dahmer. Neither man, when confronted, could accept his homosexuality and in fact became very angry at the thought. Perhaps if neither man felt such self-loathing reinforced by their homophobic upbringing, numerous of their gay victims would be alive today.

Hitler as gay--never heard that one before. That's up there with Hitler as a closeted Jew, Hitler as a mystical satan worshipper, etc. It's true that there were homosexuals in Hitler's entourage (although why should we then forget that 99% of his entourage was heterosexual?). Ernst Rohm, head of the Brownshirts, was most notable. He was murdered under direct orders by Hitler. In fact, declaring someone a homosexual was a good way in Nazi Germany to get him sent to a concentration camp. Did this religious leader realize that the pink triangle came before the yellow star of David? Once the Nazis realized no one would balk at sending liberals and homosexuals to concentration camps, it was an easy sell to arrest Jews as the next group of "undesirables."

Nicely said, AlKhidr. I agree completely and you said it better than I could have. The sort of reasoning this preacher is using is vile.

How many serial killers were heterosexuals? Should we blame all heterosexuals for their crimes? How many black people, asian people or white people are serial killers? Does that mean we should blame their crimes on their race?

It's misleading circular logic and it's sad that anyone takes this sort of garbage seriously.

How many of the 9/11 hijackers were homosexual? How many of them were heterosexual?

What about Stalin? Mussolini? Pol Pot? Idi Amin? Gay or straight?

What about the leaders of the ultra-violent drug cartels of Central and South America? Is Nazario Moreno Gonzalez gay? I dare you to ask him that question.

What about President Bush? We all know he's a fascist, but did he invade Iraq because of WMD's or because he is secretly gay?

And where are all the "real" Christians denouncing this hate speech? **crickets**

Lots of us Christians oppose people who misquote the Bible to justify their own prejudices. Unfortunately, compassion and logic do not make headlines like nutcase pronouncements do.

This just is another in a very long line of examples, as to how the hate filled conservatives hide behind the Prophet Jesus, with their vile pronouncements.

Now, I guess we should start a list of Christians who had adverse affects on history or the societies in which they lived. This really accomplished a lot! /s.

What drugs do these people take before they come up with their histories? (no /s).

Oh yeah, that makes perfect sense. Of course Hitler was gay. Inf act, he loved us so much he gave us lodgings in these great little employment camps and let us wear these trendy pink triangles in order to promote how fabulous we all are <sarc>

This guy is disgusting. Gay people suffered awfully during the holocaust and even afterwards as well. While the other ethnicities and targets were released from their imprisonment after the war, in most cases the gay prisoners where not as it was still illegal under Russian law. Most died over a decade later if they hadn’t already in the harsh conditions they were forced to live in. He’s a disgrace.
