The baby boy was born two months early at his grandmother's home and died nine hours later when he had trouble breathing and turned blue.

On Monday, a judge told the couple, who are members of a controversial Oregon faith-healing church, that they could have done more to save their baby.

During the trial, prosecutors explained David was born with a bacterial infection and underdeveloped lungs and had a 99 per cent chance of survival with medical care.

They cried and hugged after being sentenced to 75 months in prison and three years of probation.

Not because of the loss of their child, because now they were going to suffer, just a little mind you. What pathetic thoughtless jerks.

Mr Hickman said he didn't call 911 because he was praying.

Many of us think children are the great joy in life, the purpose and reason for living. We who love life, believe religious lunatics such as these people are the epitome of selfishness and shame.

The truly religious believe these Christian parents to be that of perfect faith...

Well, 99 percent chance of survival if his parents weren't so ignorant as to believe prayer accomplishes anything more than marginal self-hypnosis. The good news for other potential offspring? These clowns cannot breed while incarcerated.

But hey, at least they did not abort the baby! Good news, huh?

Maybe he wanted to say it is one thing to pray but you have a responsibility to do all you can to save a child Even to call 911 and get that child to a hospital.

I guess they didn't get the message. You know ... if Jesus and his dad would quit being so elusive and mysterious, stuff like this wouldn't happen. Poor kid.

Poor baby!!! I'm so happy the courts are finally recognizing that freedom of religion doesn't mean that zealots can do whatever they want to their kids, even let them die. Those two so called parents should rot in jail.

Power of prayer flunks an unusual test

In the largest study of its kind, researchers found that having people pray for heart bypass surgery patients had no effect on their recovery. In fact, patients who knew they were being prayed for had a slightly higher rate of complications.

The Lord Jesus Christ tells us in plain practical truth, that they that are sick need the physician. Too many bypass this simple truth that Christ tells us, because of the spiritual point He makes in the following verse, that He came to call sinners to repentance. He referred to the sick needing a doctor for a reason, because it is common knowledge, it is practical and truth that He refers too, seeing that whatsoever proceeds out of His mouth is truth, and truth only. If we neglect this plain truth, then we are to blame.

    Last:

"The Lord Jesus Christ" is an invention of second century religious politicians. This makes the child's death even more poignant -- he was the victim of a most cruel delusion, nothing else. So "Jesus", and everyone who hearkens to the notion, has a share in this boy's death.

    There's your "truth"...
