A 12-year-old Christian girl was kidnapped and repeatedly raped for eight months in Pakistan by a man who then falsified marriage documents with her, it was claimed today.
The girl was lured on a shopping trip in Lahore by a friend, before she was driven 120 miles to Tandianwalla and raped by the friend's uncle in January this year.
Two days later, she was forced to sign papers consenting to marriage with the man and beaten for refusing to convert from Christianity to Islam.

Yikes. What an awful story. Forced marriages are found in the Christian Bible as well as the Quran. These Holy Books are filled with slaughter, rape, murder, and slavery from beggingto end. It is frightening to think reading all these stories daily, that perhaps this is what the religious community truly seeks. Power and control in this life, not the next.

As the new guy, I see a theme in your seeds.
ONCE AGAIN, you have taken the actions of the few and used them to paint the many. Fundamentalism being the realy problem, not religion itself.

By Christian Bible I assume you mean the New Testament or you would have said the Jewish Bible or Judeo-Christian Bible. So, where in the New Testament can you find a forced marriage? I have read it thoroughly and cannot find anywhere where that takes place.
If you meant the Jewish Bible after all, would you be so kind as to point out what Book(s), Chapter and Verses? Thank you.

If that were true: Explain the religious violence in Egypt? Why so many and not so few?
It is unfair to anyone to guess what someones principles are..

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.
What kind of lunatic would make a rape victim marry her attacker? Answer: God.
When a man sells his daughter, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11
So these are the Bible family values! A man can buy as many sex slaves as he wants as long as he feeds them, clothes them, and screws them!
Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17)
The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." ~ Jesus Christ (Luke 12:47-48

King Dave,
Typical of atheists to cite Old Testament Scriptures. So you should have said the Jewish Bible or Judeo-Christian Bible.
The Christian Bible starts with the New Testament. From which you have cited not even one passage that corroborates your false assertion that forced marriages are a part of Christianity as they are Islam.

These were American values before the Civil War. Get off your high horse.

Absolutely right. But He was the one who said to His followers in Matthew 5,
You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not murder; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, . . .
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not commit adultery: But I say unto you,
You have heard that it hath been said, You shall love your neighbour, and hate your enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Christians have the New Testament as their standard. We follow His words. Not the words of Moses in the Old Testament. That's why it is called "Christianity" and not Judaism.
Jesus definitely has fulfilled the law and prophets with His life and death. Christians are not under the Old Testament law. Why is that so difficult for atheists and anti theists to understand? Or do they choose to misunderstand it that they may equate Christianity with Islam?

this is one of the most misunderstood passages in the bible. Jesus was taking a group of Pharisees to task in his "Sermon on the Mount" He goes on to say that even hatred is murder and lustful looks are adultery. That group of people were legalistic in nature and wanted to know the minimum requirements for entry into heaven. He also finishes the section by saying be perfect.
A tall order, impossible in fact. He was saying that the Law cannot be kept so if you want to get into heaven it is by faith and grace that you do so. But if you want to get in via the Law you have to live a perfect life. Good luck with that.
