In Christian news;

Mount Vernon, Washington: Adoptive parents of Ethiopian girl, 13, charged with homicide after she was found naked and dead following years of abuse and starvation ...In the documents, a book entitled "To Train Up a Child," was referenced. Weyrich says it includes punishment techniques the Williamses mimicked.

No surprise what is coming next:

To Train Up a Child: Religious book on the subject of how to bring up kids.

The book, by fundamentalist United States Christians Michael and Debi Pearl, promotes using a rod, such as a branch or belt, several times on a child as a way of disciplining and training them to obey.

How can anyone still say without any shame at all, that we are not allowed to pass judgement, question or criticise someones religious beliefs?

The victims would have appreciated some political incorrectness and some small bit of secular intervention.

How can anyone still say without any shame at all, that we are not allowed to pass judgement, question or criticise someones religious beliefs?

I believe that people just need to reframe the argument. It is not the religious beliefs we should or even need to pass judgement on.
It is the actions taken in the name of those beliefs which are free to be scrutinized in every fashion, positive to negative.

In the winter months of last year Ali developed acute transient psychosis, which ended in the killing of the child on December 16.
By last year she was prone to 'outbursts of aggression' towards members of her family who became concerned that her mental health was deteriorating.
'She removed the eyes from toys and videos, covering over the eyes on covers of DVDs and books,' he said.

Like this article, it attempts to make it an issue on the Muslim faith by constantly acknowledging it. This scrutiny over the actions of one very clearly crazy woman, who used religion as a vehicle for her hysteria, should be only about her delusions, not the source of those delusions. I strongly dislike this articles heavy assertion of her Muslim faith and Koran references. It goes to sell an impression that this is universal to the Muslim faith, which is far from the truth.
These actions taken by the woman were not because she was Muslim, but because she was insane.

The headline should be: [Crazy or Mentally deteriorating] Mother stabbed daughter and removed liver.
But instead we get the sensationalist headline, Muslim stabs daughter, so the limited thinkers can find another piece of tripe to rail against the Muslim faith about. (This is not a reference to seeder)

Also a meta-Newsvine question.
The particulars of the seeded article disgust me. And I agree with the seeder, mostly.
So when I 'Vote Up' an article, what am I voting up in particular??

It is not the religious beliefs

I agree with you although I'm an atheist but I dislike blaming everything on muslems even the crimes of ill individuals. There'r a variety of mental disorders manifest with visual and auditory hallucination. Some of those sick individuals live undiagnosed and act like normal until they commit their first crime

They don't need religion to kill , some are obcessed with delutional thoughts '' religious or not '' or obcessed with hatred against particular race or gender or job especially prostitution.

Jim Jones who forced 909 of his cult to commit suicide in Guyana was not a muslem neither this killer mother. Of course there are deranged individuals from athiests too

Without religion, I fully believe this woman would have killed her daughter believing SpongBob Squarepants was demonically possessing her daughter's body.

Some people are so quick to blame the vehicles of hysteria when it's the individuals who are driving them.

This crime have nothing to do with her being a Muslim, this woman would likely have done the same thing regardless of what religion she confesses to believe in.

This kind of journalism should be prosecuted as a hate crime.

I believe that to be a bit extreme for something that at most amounts to Libel.

But this writer should be openly questioned about their intentions. Hopefully then the writer's editor will put a stop to it next time.
