A couple have been accused of allowing their 12-year-old daughter to be raped by a veteran preacher they invited into their home. They are also alleged to have allowed an incestuous relationship between two of their children in what authorities have called a 'tragic abuse of children'.Investigators believe Jerry and Christina Ham's religious beliefs may have played a part in allowing the alleged sexual abuse

It's like I'm not even shocked anymore with these religious lunatics. The word preacher or Man of God is now synonymous with a mental disorder. The first question to ask your local religious leader is, "What are you hiding?"

I just read this article and I am sorry to say that I too felt absolutely no surprise at the "religious" connection...I am sure that we will hear that these people were not Christians, or "true" Christians, but Christian is a label of "self" identification and as such...should they proclaim themselves to be Christians, then that is what they are.

Perhaps the Christian community needs to have a long inward look - what is about religion that attracts or allows these perverts to flourish in secrecy? When does obedience become mindless acceptance?

I know that there is good and bad in all things, but I hope that Christians understand why the rest of us are starting to do the the face-palm and eye-roll at the mention of religion.

This is alleged, and not proven. How can you judge all religious people this way. There are many non believers that rape children every day. Anyway, I do not believe anyone who rapes a child is religious or believes in God. Their preacher is a fake.

Jesus told you many false prophets will come in my name. You shouldn't be shocked. You have been warned.

But you call that person out .. NOT JESUS .. Jesus gave you a heads up.. You should be saying thank you Jesus for showing me what was coming.

Predictable. The religious community is far more offender by a perceived insult to their faith, then having the slightest concern or empathy for the child victim. No surprise there. You should be showing some shame and taking responsibility for the actions of your religious leaders. Not passing the buck, then attacking and blaming the victims. Disgraceful!

I think that it is the passivity of some of the 'believers' that makes me nauseous - Jesus showed us what was coming....as if it was a raincloud, an episode of House, or the number 7 bus...

I guess when you think that everything is preordained, then why give a sh+t or try and make it better!!!!!!!!!!

    After all it's God's f+cking plan!!!!

This is without a doubt Horrible and detestable. And to add the element of religion on top of it. This is not religion based, at least not Christian based. This is the result of demented minds and feeding the sexual appetite of a pervert posing as a minister. I hope this guy is taken out of society for the rest of what little life he may have left and that the parents serve prison time. The girl will probably be 18 soon but the boy should be taken away from these sick parents until he is 18.

I'm going to be sick. There just are not words to express how despicable these people are.
